Maybe I'm just rusty, but I honestly don't remember any of the other ones giving me this much trouble, aside from maybe the first one and a few parts of the third.

9 isn't the hardest I don't think, but it's up there. Harder than 1, 2, and 5 definitely.

10 is another story. I found it mostly way harder than the old games

I mostly find 1 pretty easy because the stages are all really really short and half the bosses get completely fucked by their weaknesses in a hilariously small amount of shots. The only one I think is easier is 2

When 9 came out I felt like a seasoned veteran of the original 6, yet 9 kicked my ass at first. Suddenly having no slide I had to rethink how I played MM2.

10 I found much easier than 9 but I had a few small issues when that came out as well. I think it's just a case of something new with new mechanics and others taken out.

Of the original 6 the first will always be the hardest, but even now I can beat it rather easily. Rockman & Forte will always be the hardest of the classic era.

Mega Man 8,9,10 are only hard because of annoying level design. They take all the least fun parts of Mega Man levels and mash them together and call it "Nintendo Difficulty" . The level designs aren't clever.

9 was only hard because of annoyances, such as cheap enemy placements and surprises. The bosses werent too hard, the stages are a bit spikey and sometimes cheap. heck yeah, id say its harder than Megamans 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6

I found 3 annoyingly difficult because of the Doc Robot stages. One of my playthroughs of 3 ended with those stages because I couldn't get past them. Fuck those things.
The rest of the games I can deal with. I think 9 had some legit tough sections though.

It's funny how 3 starts out rather normal. Then the Doc Robot stages ramp up the difficulty, especially on the bosses. and after all that the Wily stages are like an afterthought. Very short and no difficulty at all.

The game is alot harder if you do it buster only however.

It's still my favorite of the classics.
