you'd like where I grew up. whole town was mostly a grid when it came to streets, one direction it went in numbers (1st street and so on) and the other direction was letters (A street and so on)

A grid is only good if your very carful about zoning. If you have trucks plugging up your residential feeder streets your going to have a bad time or residential driving through your industrial your going to have a bad time.

I made these a long time ago, for a city that has since been expanded and "improved".

only street in my hometown that ever got busy was mainstreet, and only during going to work and leaving work hours as we had a couple of prisons down the road, and all the guards would come through and hit up the convenience stores on their way home. and it wasn't clogged up just busy and difficult to pass if you where on foot

I finally realized how big the zones are so I can now have a lot less wasted space. I do need to figure out better ways to assign the zones though.

Make a city more interesting. Rather then a boring ass grid. I had one city I made that had canals everywhere and it turned out right. This one is all screwed up though.

Anyway, I really want to like Cities but the game is like 80% traffic management, and I wish you could have underground power cables.

I love how the roads are so versatile and I like tackling the traffic problems and coming up with solutions with minimal demolition to structures in this game.
