I was just thinking that Persona 5's soundtrack is my favorite now, beating out Xenoblade Chronicles. What's your favorite video game OST?

My favorite is by far Chrono Trigger, followed by Final Fantasy VIII

Persona 4 would probably be third on the list. It's perfect. I havent played Persona 5 yet though.

I'd like to nominate the Mass Effect trilogy.

Soul Hackers is my favorite, it really doesnt show unless you are playing the game though, super atmospheric with added background sounds and some super fucking good contextual beat switches

Persona 3 or 4, 5 is pretty good but not nearly as many memorable tracks.

Xenoblade, pretty much every Suikoden but especially I and II, Radiant Historia, Xenoblade X, Bayonetta 1 and 2, Baten Kaitos EW&LO and Baten Kaitos Origins, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Dragoon, Eretzvaju/Evil Zone... I always love the music in Zelda games. Not a big fan of Final Fantasy games, but the music's always pretty good.

Radiant Historia stands out a bit in that while it has a small OST for an RPG, literally every track is great. Can't think of any other game where there isn't a single weak track except maybe Eretzvaju / Evil Zone, but that game only had like 12 songs so...

Well, I recently converted a whole bunch of 8 to 16-bit music (and others inspired from the genre) that have been sitting in some old Youtube playlists from a small collection of various games and did audio balancing for them one at a time...

As for my favourites there are just too many to list out, Shadow of the Colossus is an obvious one but from the aforementioned recent ones Cave Story, Gimmick!, and Tower of Heaven come to mind.

I'm not sure if I have a singular favorite OST. There's a lot of good ones to choose from. I guess if I had to pick some it would be something like this:

Donkey Kong Country 2
Earthbound
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Metroid Prime
Super Metroid
Persona 5
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker/ Majora's Mask
Tales of Symphonia
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

The first two are probably my absolute favorites though.

Persona 3's OST is better than 4 and 5 imo.

There are too many great OSTs imo. I can't decide on just one.

I was creating playlists that feature the only the good tracks of game OSTs, and while it doesn't have the best highlight songs (as in Mining Melancholy is great tier, not god tier), DKC2's soundtrack was the only one to have every single one of its songs added into the list. It doesn't have a single weak song. Everything is at least good.
