i have had an iphone for the last 3 years. before that i had a galaxy s3.

You'd lose your Apple ecosystem interaction. So stick with the iPhone if that's important to you.

Of the two, S8. But they'll announce the next iPhone next month and the Note 8 comes out in like two weeks.

Also the S8 is just straight up a better phone than the iPhone 7 in every way. Better camera, better screen, better battery life, higher waterproofing rating, SD card support, wireless charging, etc. Hell, it's the same physical size as the 4.7in iPhone 7 but has a 5.8in screen. It has a screen larger than the freaking iPhone 7 plus but the same body size as the smaller iPhone. That's why you should wait until Apple announced the next iPhone next month. Otherwise you're paying the same price for a totally outdated and outclassed phone.

iPhone 7 plus because it's what I have and I really like it. I know a lot of galaxy owners who hate Samsung and the galaxy phone

Your best bet is waiting for the new iPhone, but if you can't, the S8 is a vastly superior phone to the standard iPhone 7.
