When you think about it, Millenials are the most traumatized American generation probably since WW2. When we were young we realized our country couldn't protect us on 9/11. A few years later the economic security we had was devastated by the financial crisis and the ongoing effects of globalization. Pervasive social media revealed all of the ongoing issues with race relations. Finally we have 2016 come along for perhaps the greatest shock of all with Trump's election, which was unthinkable.

Was any American generation ever this shook? We must at least be in the top 3.

My cousins in vietnam say American culture and growing up in schools here teaches you to be entitled and think everyone owes you something, and to be whiny.

They make racist jokes about how since I'm American I probably think they can't pick on me (...)
And basically say I am turning white any time I complains.

Well then I saw large amounts of Americans complaining that a game doesn't have characters they like and it's like a recurring thing to American gamers complaining about it.

And it made me wonder if their stereotype is sometimes true.

You're halfway there. Having a shit leader in office, financial uncertainty, even terrorism are facts of life for a lot of the world. The current generation wasn't raised to deal with or expect hardship because parents tried to limit their exposure to such things. Now reality hits and they're overwhelmed and unprepared for a world where their guardians don't or can't just fix the problem for them. They're traumatized because some of this is the first real hardship they've faced, if you can even call some of it hardship and not inconvenience.

They went through much harder times, but I don't know if they had as many shocks. But they very well may have. Theyre in my top 3 along with the Civil War generation probably. But again, they also got to see success, and in all likelihood we're probably looking at a worse future tbh.

People call me a millenial, but I don't follow this logic at all. I was in college when 9/11 happened. I do not recall any financial crisis. I remember a minor recession but I just ignored it and it really had no noticeable direct impact on me. I didn't use any social media until I was in my mid 20s. The trump thing was fucking annoying but aside from that, I'm not really understanding the argument here.

I mean, Millenial is a very broad term, but most of have grown up in the atmosphere of 9/11, economic insecurity in ways we take for granted (ie the gig economy, part time dominating work, etc). Maybe you weren't bothered by Trump, but college campuses, for example, were rending their garments in mourning. People at my campus were walking the streets crying lol.

Considering the high ranking U.S. government which and active military consist mostly of Baby Boomers and some Gen Xers while millenials (both conservative and liberal) voluntarily enlist to fight and die because they're fit for combat, this argument still makes no sense.

Your whole theory is just a bunch of excuses to justify whining.

I never said Millenials were responsible for these events so you must have misread. That is just the environment in which Millenials received their upbringing and formation.
