But AMC doesn't want to pay to film here. But it's the safest and smartest choice. Fewer zombies up here and the ones there are, would freeze in the winter and then you can pick them off

Hell, AMC avoids filming during the winter even though it shows them traveling in the snow in the comics.

I really doubt in real life people would travel from Georgia/Virginia, wherever the fuck they are now, all the way to Alaska during a zombie apocalypse and manage to survive.
