I still think they should pass a law that says in order to put a kiss in an action movie, they have to make an agreement with another director to put an explosion in a romance movie.

This would solve so many problems with the film industry. Romantic subplots in action movies would nosedive, and there would end up being one or two romance films a year tht we actually wouldn't mind being dragged to.

I dislike the whole, girl dates jerk, meets nice guy, begins to like nice guy, jerk finds out, jerk does jerk thing, jerk gets his comeuppance, nice dude finishes with girl.

That's why I enjoyed the Vince and Jen movie "The Break Up," I think. It's a cool twist of the tired trope.

The ones where the dude gets the girl via some blatant lie and when she finds out that he was lying the whole time she is only mad for a few minutes before agreeing to stay with him.

Does CE pay attention to anything other than romance in movies?

I think it's just that there's nothing more common in movies. 99% of movies regardless of genre have at least one scene focused around it, and most of those have a shole subplot if not the main story.

On crime drama shows when they type the suspect's name into a computer and find literally every little fact you'd need to know about them right down to their preferred brand of hot sauce

when you're watching a horror movie, and early on, someone tells some kinda story that's relevant to what's gonna happen, and they randomly give the protagonist a charm that's supposed to protect them

obligatory side romance plot. I literally fast forward through the scenes because they add nothing to the movie

Fucking Civil War. Worst of all was that people defended it too.

That airport fight scene though

If a main character is female, then BOOM! The villain is instantly a rapist.

Melodramatically screaming "Nooooo!"
