Number one game that comes to my mind is Lair. It had so much potential but the launch controls blew chunks.

I can forgive or adapt otherwise. I'll still complain about Monster Hunter controls. They're a bit awkward. They don't ruin the games, though.

Skyward Sword. The controls are not bad, but the emphasis on getting them right lead to the rest of the game to be uninteresting and underdeveloped.

Toro! Let's Party!

Super cute game, but I did some mild hand damage playing some of those games. Ukulele was the worst control design in a game I've ever seen.

Try this Playstation owners.

Try spinning the left analog stick for the whole duration of two minutes. During that time, you have to put in button commands at a set time (while holding the controller mind you)

That mini game was meant for people with three hands. That, of they could have... you know, not used the damn analog stick because it does nothing whatsoever.

-luigi's mansion: dark moon has a control scheme that is vastly inferior to the original twin-stick scheme
-nintendo in general has a terrible habit of not letting you remap controls: something as simple as switching the shoulder buttons can make a game like mario kart ds worlds more comfortable for me
-kirby air ride's extremely simplified control scheme really ruins copy abilities and makes the game feel even more shallow than it is
-constantly tapping and sliding the screen in kirby mass attack gets really obnoxious, and the limited interaction with the kirbys leads to the game being fundamentally flawed and extremely repetitive and shallow
-mario 64 feels awful on the ds; it's not just the fact that you're missing analog inputs, it just feels like the controls are fucking broken and don't respond properly
-gex isn't ruined by its weird physics and zoomed-in camera but they really hurt
-sonic games tend to overload one button with a ton of different commands instead of efficiently mapping them to the spare two face buttons on the controller for convenience (it's not game-ruining but it really gets annoying when trying to pick things up, light dash, or spin dash)
-fighting games in general would be a million times more popular if learning the inputs alone weren't such a daunting task for newbies (i prefer the simple scheme in marvel vs capcom 2)
-a lot of mario party minigames suffer from controls: there's the infamous analog stick rotating, but there's also weird ones like bowser toss where you have to mash a like a madman while also angling with the awkward n64 joystick

I remember this being especially obnoxious in 06 and Unleashed. 06 could've easily mapped light dash to Y/Triangle, a button that's only (to my recollection) shared by entering vehicles as Shadow. But nope, they'd rather have you bounce attack to your death sometimes.

And then in Unleashed some dingus had the bright idea to map homing attack to the farting boost button, when all previous 3D games had it mapped to the jump button, and it worked fine! The only saving grace to this disastrous control design was Unleashed having a targeting reticle pop up when you were in homing attack range.

Granted, both those games had more problems than silly controls, but that's not the point here. :V

Better than fine, one of the best DS games imo. The controls were super good too, I was really impressed at how responsive they were after expecting them to suck.

Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar, physics do not work like this. Why does my character start leaning like the tower of pizza when I make even the smallest of turns? Why does every car handle like a brick on ice? It makes me feel the creators were unfamiliar with basic activities such as walking, and driving.

Funnily enough, the horse controls in RDR were great. Why can they program horses but not people or cars? Who knows.

3D games have been mainstream for 20 years and no one can figure out how to program a camera

Anything with the top down wannabe RTS click to walk. It's slow, better hope you don't accidentally click on an enemy you didn't want to attack. I'd rather use a thumb stick.
