I'm at the part where the asshole in that church steals ALL of your abilities. Now I have to play through this game crippled and with 3 party members. I've also had 2 impossible to win boss battles.

That is one of the toughest parts if you don't expect it. It gets much easier once you get by it.
Won't lie; first time I played the game, when it first came out all those many years ago..I made it to a point in the game that just whipped me so hard, I quit and restarted; did much, much better the second time through. Yeah, that was a nightmare of a mission since as said, Senta posted... That is one of the toughest parts if you don't expect it. It gets much easier once you get by it My hardest boss in the game though..... hmmm. That was tough because I'd always overtrain and I hardly remember too many bosses in the later half of the game.
