IW was hot garbage. I played the beta and I didn't bother buying it.

BO3 was fun I thought. I played it extensively. I mean I didn't like the whole "special weapon" thing, and I definitely dont like hte wall jumping and all that bullshit. But despite all of that it was very much an enjoyable game. Weapon balance was amazing. Maps were decent. Overall solid experience.

No pick 10. It's going to suck balls.

I was ok with it until they decided to become grossly historically inaccurate. People say they arent trying to copy BF1 yet they added gas warfare into the game, with gas masks and s***. Since when does WW2 have gas warfare?

Not good to me, looks like it'll play too slow for my liking. If it's a faster paced boots-on-the-ground game like BO2 (which is IMO the pinnacle of the series) then I might enjoy it, but if it plays as slow as W@W or (god forbid) Ghosts, then I'm not even going to bother with it. I guess I'll find out once the beta comes out.

If I like the beta, I'll probably end up getting it. If not, I'll stick with IW/MWR (maybe some BO3 too) for another year and wait until Treyarch's next game.

as a WWI and WWII buff, it is to me. Gas warfare is what made WWI so prominent. It was the only war where gas was so extensively used by all belligerents.
Also at least I'm not one of those whining about the absense of the Nazi symbol. I don't really care about such aesthetics.


But gas grenades and gas masks in WWII? Thats no different than adding jet fighters, jetpacks and plasma cannons to the game. Gas warfare was NOT used in WWII. I seriously hate Treyarch for coming up with this s***.
Shows either they clearly didnt do their research or just though ''hey, WWII looks like WWI and gas masks are cool. Let's add gas masks to this game!''
Maybe if they just added some gas masks to paranoid-looking soldiers, it would be ok. But gas grenades? What the hell?

Ummmmm they did use gas during WW2. It wasn't as prevalent as WW1 but it was definitely used enough to be a gimmick in a WW2 video game.

Also, I hate the direction CoD has gone in since MW3. I'll probably get this tho

The Japanese used if some but it was not used by the Germans or allies in the West as they feared reprisal. Some use of it in Sevastopol was done but it was never used on an open battlefield.

i would agree that historical accuracy doesnt matter, but what i think does matter is thematic accuracy.

I think games like this don't need to be 100% accurate to history but it should contain the elements that make this time period unique, if that makes sense. Battlefield 1 did a good job of this because while the weapons probably werent historically accurate (too many automatic guns), you have the gas warfare, horses, trenches, etc.

No it wasn't. Chemical weapons were used by the Italians against the Ethiopians and by the Japanese against the Chinese, but none of that is in the game. There was no usage of chemical weapons in western Europe at all.

As long as the campaign is historically accurate (and so far it looks like it is) I don't care how inaccurate the multiplayer is. This isn't Red Orchestra, this is CoD a bit if craziness is to be expected in MP and it only gives you more options and content. This is a game and game series with a Nazi Zombies mode after all.

The Germans conducted scattered gas attacks against the Soviets during Operation Barbarossa, but they didn't use them against the western armies for fear of retaliation.

I don't get it.. WW2 and zombies are the most worn out and most dragged into the ground topics of all time, easily. People are literally hyped about the two coming out in a video game.

Nope, none at all. The only recorded use of gas warfare was by the Japanese against the Chinese in the Sino-War. The Nazis never used gas, neither did the Allied forces. Probably also had to do with Hitler not wanting to repeat his experience in WW1.
There arent even any damn soldiers in WWII that wore gas masks. Only civilians were given gas masks at the start of war solely out of war paranoia.


I hate when such game devs crush on the uniqueness of certain wars. WW1 is the ONLY war in history where it was actually common to see most soldiers wearing gas masks, some kind or another. German gas masks to french gas masks to British gas masks, they were also very different in designs. And that's because the use of gas warfare was the most extensive of all. No other war has come close since.
