another girl straight out blocked me

Or if you keep messaging without response. Maybe after you send twice without response it's probably time to call it. It's really annoying to keep getting stuff and on top of that if it's someone you don't talk to much you just don't know what else to do but get away. The world isn't kind to girls and we're taught to be more timid like that (simplifying)

Looks aren't going to hurt in the friend department. Maybe go to classes (yoga classes, martial arts?) just anything with a few people that you can talk to. Men or women. Talk to people, make friends. See where it leads.
