I've been wanting to take a vacation for a while and Disney Animal Kingdom looks pretty cool. From what I understand there are multiple Disney parks clumped together and you can hop between them? Anyone ever done this and is it worth it? The trip I priced out had me staying for six days at about 3500 bucks.

If you're getting a nice-ass hotel, maybe.

If you're an Orlando local, it's cool to go there alone, ride some rides, and eat, but hassle of booking a hotel and traveling there makes it hard to justify going by yourself, especially at $3500.

I'm not a local. Also the calculator included my meals ( I think) and I was staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Honestly, my guess is you can save a hell of a lot of money if you stay a few towns away. About 8 years ago I went down to FL to visit Universal Studios, and while I don't remember specifically that town I stayed in, I remember I booked a hotel/motel about 20 minutes out from Universal and just drove to the park the day I wanted to go. You can probably find a much cheaper rate doing it that way rather than relying on a Disney package, assuming you have a rental car or a car of your own. --- http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111123223446/simpsons/images/9/99/K.png I didn't even give you my coat! ... I can afford it. staying in the park sounds like it's worth it to me. I really don't want to have to screw around with rental cars. I'm all about convenience because I'm a lazy ass.

Not sure about Disney World, but at Disneyland, you get skip the line of most rides as a single rider who fills in spot. You do get some weird stares once in a while from parents when you're chilling alone in a line or at a ride, I used to hang out at Disneyland alone after work when I used to work at CA Adventure.
