Current Events > Help CE. Can you report road rage with plate number but without video footage?

I was driving on a highway before when I started signaling to get into the right lane. The dude behind me was doing the same thing but apparently I wasn't going fast enough cuz he then zipped two lanes over, then came back to the middle lane and threw a CD case out his window which hit into my windshield before he sped off.

I have no video footage of the incident but I did write the guys plate number down. Is there ANYTHING I can do with that info or is it useless?

Report it. Whether something can be done or not is up to the police. They might be able to catch the guy. That's dangerous. Too bad insurance, in my experience, won't pay for windshield damage.

You can call the cops, and they will likely pay the guy a visit.
That's really it. May ruffle his feathers, though.

IIRC it's actually a very serious crime to throw an object at someone from a moving vehicle. It has a hilarious name like "deploying a missile" or something like that, but it might even be a felony. The story I read a few years ago involved someone throwing a cup

You could try to report it, but invest in a dashcam. Don't expect much if you do report it.

The worst that could happen is the cops could say they can't do much, but at least you tried to do something.

Should have called the cops immediately and reported that the guy appears to be driving under the influence.
