If you are going for a beard, you have to grow it at least four weeks before you start shaping it. Plus, be sure to shape and groom it properly. Always shave the neck and shape the cheeks to your desired shape. Don't be a douche and just let it grow out wild for infinite amount of time. Also, a small comb or brush is super handy once it gets long.

I'm not. And I doubt I can shape it either way, since most of my beard is in my neck anyway

I'm not. And I doubt I can shape it either way, since most of my beard is in my neck anyway

I'm going to honest, you've got some bullfrog neck going on. I'm not exactly sure where your neck ends and your jaw begins.

Depends how long you're trying to grow it out.
Most men look good with "long stubble", or you can go for a more fuller beard, which might take a several weeks to a few months.
Or you can just say fuck it and go all the way, like me.

The best advice I can give is to be patient, and it will itch at first.

Seriously, man, trim that mess. At least trim the pube looking hair on the sides. The hobo look is awful and no one should purposely go for it.

That pic was a few weeks after a professional beard trim.
I went a whole year without a trim before that.
The sides are hard to do, but I use special shampoo and conditioner for beards and have to blow-dry it straight.

You should get your money back.

You could have something if you grew it out thick, but it wouldn't look very good.

You could always go with just a mustache (please don't).
