For anyone who doesn't, it's a card game with a hex board that's pretty unique.

For those who do, any thoughts on the cards that have been teased for the expansion? The most recent two:

Swallow seems like an interesting mechanic-- I've always liked Journey to Nowhere/Oblivion Ring in MTG, so I want to see how that effect translates to Faeria.

I mean

if card games aren't your thing, then this probably won't change your mind

do you just not like gridded boards in general or have hexagons in particular wronged you in some way

Typically theres a layer of complexity with a hex board that makes it hard to account for from both the player's and game designer's perspective. The net result usually ends up with a game that cant reach its true potential as well as a square grid.

Oddly enough, the same thing cant be said about a distance based design that has a circular type range (phantom brave, valkaria chronicles) so its really only games with hex grids that have this problem

Hmm, not sure I've ever encountered this issue with hex boards. What games do you think are examples of this? Faeria honestly wouldn't work with a square grid, and circle-distance would make things too messy.

Wild Arms XF, resonance of fate (this pulled off hex the best), Settlers of Catan are a few off the top of my head.

oh no! Absolutely not. Settlers of Catan is just a bad game with a hex. I guess it's the best grid for the gameplay

Kobold Barracks on a creature with dash could actually be pretty good, but I think the land requirement is pretty limiting.
