I'm really surprised so many people liked it, I thought it was derivative trash, although I liked Jon Hamm in it. But otherwise it was neither funny nor consistent in tone and characters (what was the deal with Kevin Spacey sacrificing himself at the end there? What even?)

The ending was trash. And Kevin Spacey's dramatic character shift at the end was also trash.

Otherwise wasn't bad though

I really liked how it used music and synced it up with the action.

Now I'm wishing GoTG did something that clever instead of just having it play like a checklist.

Kevin Spacey's character had been working with Baby since he was a kid.

it's no surprise that he'd grown some kinda attachment, and he was likely touched to see someone who's otherwise withdrawn develop a connection with someone else

Why does everyone always read this as a sacrifice? He had no idea that the arms dealers would try and come back for revenge at that moment, and by the time Buddy was driving up it was too late to really react. He definitely had no intention of dying

Anyway, great summer action flick. I've seen it 3 times and enjoyed it more each time

Yup, these are my only two criticisms too. I am positively in love with Edgar Wright's sound design here.

It's actually a good movie? When I saw the trailer I thought it was incredibly cheesy how many times they said, "baby" and the romance plot.

You remember this was the guy who threatened that very same girlfriend earlier in the movie to get Baby to continue working for him, so for him to now be all like "uh durr I was in love once!" is nothing short of silly.

Also for a guy who seems like a big shot and has ties to the police, why is he personally cleaning up the mess at the hideout like the cars instead of sending an underling? Hell he doesn't even have like, a bodyguard or I dunno, something.

Not as big of a deal, but just something I was wondering about while watching the movie instead of after the fact.

The movie was trying too hard to be quirky with the whole Baby dancing to music montage while getting coffee and certainly was not as clever the first time around when the director did it with Shaun of the Dead. Instead of getting me to slowly warm up to and like the protagonist, he just seemed to scream "like me!" which didn't go over well.

I thought it was fantastic. The ending could have used a little more work tho.

Well yeah, but it's the name that everyone in the movie calls him.
