If you're not at a calorie deficit you aren't losing weight. Every (working) diet is going to come down to calories in calories out, but the dumb ones like keto make you cut out beneficial macronutrients for absolutely no reason.

I've done the diet for two years now (with some breaks in that time). It works wonders. It just comes down to willpower. Calories in, calories out still applies, obviously, but as long as you're in ketosis, your body will be using stored fat for energy instead of carbs, so you'll still be losing weight as long as you're not eating like 2,500 calories a day.

Don't listen to people who say it's just as effective as calories in, calories out non-keto. Good luck if you're seriously going to try this diet, and feel free to @ me any time you want advice on it.

Extremely hard, you're restricting yourself from something that's nutritionally beneficial because it "burns the fat" just like something you'd see on an infomercial.

Learn how nutrition works instead of blindly following stupid diets. Saying carbs are bad is just like saying keto is bad because of all the fat.

The type of pizza we typically eat? Nothing, you're going to have to cut that out with any healthy diet. But there are healthy variations of everything, with keto you cut it out completely.

It'll be hard at first, but before too long, you won't be craving those foods. Fat takes much longer to digest, so it satiates your hunger and your cravings will go down.

YOUR BLOOD TURNS ACIDIC!!!

well no joke, it does since the 2 ketones your body starts using as its energy source are acidic. Its probably harsher on the liver since that is the organ where the fats are broken down for the ketones.

its also more expensive per molecule since acetoacetate yields 22 atp per molecule while a single glucose will yield 36 atp

Well when you look at the type of fat a lot of people on keto are eating, and the ratio of calories they're getting from it, heart disease eventually becomes a big problem.

Just remember that carbs are fuel. Keto isn't as efficient when it comes to giving you energy, you WILL feel like shit and have a harder time building muscle or doing cardio. In fact, most people seem to choose keto because they think it's a way to avoid exercise. Might as well just starve yourself if you just want to burn fat.

Keto can't be good for you. It should only be used as a last resort imo. Like you are morbidly obese and HAVE to lose weight.

Also going to make you smell bad and have bad breath.

That's keto acidosis. Very dangerous, can lead to death. But pretty rare for non-diabetics. People on the keto plan go into ketosis. Still probably bad for you, but hasn't been studied well. Blood still turns acidic in ketosis, which I'm guessing isn't very good for you.

but you guys are saying it's literally going to turn your blood into acid and fucking melt you from the inside.

thats a joke. the blood is buffered to reduce any large swings in pH. otherwise our blood would constantly become acidic from carbon dioxide produced in the tca.

wrong. Learn the science bro. a biochemistry course

although some of the fat in our diets is in the form of phospholipids, triacylglycerols are a major source of fatty acids. Triacylglycerols are also our principal stored energy reserve. The energy available in stores of fat in the average person far exceeds the energy available from protein, glycogen, and glucose. Overall, fat accounts for approximately 83% of available energy, partly because more fat is stored than protein and carbohydrate and partly because of the substantially higher energy yield per gram for fat compared with protein and carbohydrate and partly because the substantially higher energy yield per gram for fat compared with protein and carbohydrate. Complete combustion of fat yields about 37 kJ/g, compared with about 16 to 17 kJ/g for sugars, glycogen, and amino acis. In animals, fat is stored mainly as triacylglycerols in specialized cells called adipocytes or adipose cells. triacylglycerols, aggregated to form large globules, occupy most volume of adipose cells. Much smaller amounts of triacyglycerols are stored as small, aggregated globules in muscle tissue

distinctly wrong. Fat gives 37kJ/g in combustion, aminoacids, glycogen, glucose all give 16-17 kJ/g.

and more factors come into play when it comes to burning fat then just calories. Fatty acids are mobilized from adipocytes in response to hormone messengers such as adrenaline, glucagon, and adrenocorticotropic hormone

the concentration of the ketone bodies for you go into ketoacidosis is close to 3 times that of starvation. You simply aren't going to get that solely from dieting and not something more serious like diabetes(which is where ketosis was first discovered iirc)

Carbs are still important. Fats are important. Proteins are important.

Its a matter of eating the right Fats, Carbs, and Proteins.

Carbs found in bread/pasta are not the same as those found in broccoli.

Too much protein causes inflammation.

Low fat diets are dangerous. Mothers milk is 48% fat for good reason. And your brain is mostly fat. Also, you need cholesterol to make testosterone. A diet low in fat decreases fertility.

As a general rule, you should avoid bread, fried foods, and sugar. And increase your consumption of healthy fats.

A "cyclical ketogenic diet" is probably better than a full ketogenic diet. Just remember to eat good carbs like sweet potatoes and ditch the bad carbs like refined sugar. youll be okay.
