Dude, that entire movie had excellent casting choices except the one part that mattered the most: The main character... Mary Elizabeth Winstead was bland as fuck - Ramona does actually emote quite a bit in the books. Either she took it upon herself to think that all 'hipster chicks' act that way, or someone erroneously directed her towards that. The actress playing Knives has none of her book counterpart's manic Scott-crazed energy, and while she's indeed lovely, she looks older than Michael Cera. Kim Pine and Stephen Stills feel like part of the backdrop. Though admittedly I'm pretty biased here, since Kim's my favorite character. Though to be fair I forgot about Kieran Culkin - not how I pictured Wallace, but he took the role as his own and did excellent.
