This is why I don't think people who use child harnesses/kid leashes are automatically bad parents. I've seen videos where a parent for a split second will turn around and the child will wonder off and gets lost or really hurt. Not charging the violent fucker also reinforces his resolve to do it again to someone else. When he's the only one dumb enough to think he was in the right it's easier to dismiss. However, when he manages to convince dozens of followers that he did the right thing, it can lead to a clueless angry mob and misguided vigilantism. And they will be more likely to believe him the next time he lashes out at an innocent bystander.
