Lesson here is that if you're a man and come across a lost child, find the nearest woman and tell her that there's a lost child.

Also this reminds me of the stories where police are called on parents because their adopted child is of another race.

This is why I don't think people who use child harnesses/kid leashes are automatically bad parents. I've seen videos where a parent for a split second will turn around and the child will wonder off and gets lost or really hurt. As long as it's treated as an added security measure rather than a replacement for supervision.

Agree with the father here 100%, I know for a fact I wouldn't have lost my child so the only possible explanation is that someone tried to rob her. I wouldn't ever trust what some random person would say. And that includes that one "witness"

He says he will not press charges against the father. I would have, he should have.

The father made no apologies for his actions but told The Post, “All that matters is that my daughter is home safely.”

What a piece of shit.

That's why pride is considered one of the seven deadly sins. Instead of feeling gratitude that a total stranger went out of his way to help a lost child find her family again even though he had no obligation to do so, he tried to hide his shame of lacking as a parent by losing his child in the first place by making the Good Samaritan out to be the bad guy of the whole ordeal.

So many way I'm imagining that these interactions must go nowadays.

Like if someone is in line at a restaurant
They see a little girl with her parent, and a toy puppy
They say, "that's cute"
The parent puts her arm over her child and brings her closer to her as if to shield her and gives a smug worrying look.
Maybe yells, get away from my kid!

It's very Curb Your Enthusiasm-ish

of course the stupid dad doubled down on accusing the samaritan guy being a villain
the article says the dad jumped to the wrong conclusion and committed assault

he doesn't want to admit he's a dumb ass with a short fuse so of course he's going to stick with the story that makes him seem like a hero parent just doing his job, even though his shit parenting is why the kid got lost in the first place

gotta say though the samaritan guy was not smart passing on filing charges against the thug dad
it validates the idiot's accusations...

i respect the whole "bygones be bygones" approach, by it's not safe to do that anymore in this century
society will ream you for not standing up for your innocence
it leaves you wide open as a scapegoat for trash people like that dad
and social media can turn one ignored accusation into a tidal wave of animosity towards you
"turning the other cheek" is stupid and prehistoric now, don't do it

Not charging the violent fucker also reinforces his resolve to do it again to someone else. When he's the only one dumb enough to think he was in the right it's easier to dismiss. However, when he manages to convince dozens of followers that he did the right thing, it can lead to a clueless angry mob and misguided vigilantism. And they will be more likely to believe him the next time he lashes out at an innocent bystander.

It's tedious, time consuming, awkward; but pressing charges is the responsible thing to do. You're not an ass for doing your part to make sure authorities know someone's guilty of being a violent asshole.
