Actually I think it's a law that restaurants can't refuse someone water or charge for it (non-bottled).

Probably just to keep him from coming back. At my workplace we only charge for large waters, and that is just to cover the cost of the actual cup.

Yea I think most places care more about the cost of the cups. I fill my half gallon vacuum bottle up with water at convenience stores for free all the time (I always tell the staff so they don't think I'm stealing the soda)

Tap water costs .004 cents a gallon. Give the man a drink.

I'm assuming it's republicans who are all "water costs money!"

Oh yeah, we don't give a fuck, especially since it gets super hot around here. It only sucks at drive thru since we aren't technically supposed to take other people's bottles, so we have to hand them cups of water to fill it up. Cross contamination and all.

Where I live the law is that if you serve alcohol you have to serve tap water for free. Most places from my experience will serve free tap water, even if they don't serve alcohol. Apparently some places charge a glass rental fee, but I'm suspect they are just rumours as no one seems to be able to name a specific place, that does this.

i used to work at a restaurant like burger king. i remember one time a homeless man came in and ordered a bunch of food. the cook didn't look to happy that he was there but he had the money so she cooked it.

as he grabbed his bag to go, the bottom of the bag was soggy wet and broke and spilled all his food on the floor. he looked so distraught. the cook had this look on her face like that's what you get for being homeless (???) and didn't look like she wanted to help. i told him i would help and convinced the cook to make him the food again.

i gave him the food again, this time in a plastic bag, and he was happy.

this was like 13 years ago. i wonder if that mans still alive/homeless.

Honestly, unless they only serve plastic cups, they should've bee able to hand him a paper cup (which are usually small/medium).

They also may have caught him filling the cup with soda before. It's pretty easy to catch people who do that. Not enough back story here. So many factors.

As someone who is fiscally conservative - no, Indon't believe that (especially cause of science, which may also shock you).

Don't believe what?

it isn't anything new, taco bell charge 25-40 cents for a cup for water. won't say the particular taco bell is doing this however. the secret is sealed.
it's the franchise owner that is charging that btw.

McDonald's charges for water too if it's not the dinky water cups. But even then a ton of people just ask for water and get soda instead

Burger King is a business, not a homeless shelter. It's all nice in theory that you guys think they should give him free stuff, but in reality the guy probably stinks and will likely chase away paying customers if he hangs out in the store. Homelessness is not a problem that should be dealt with by telling businesses and customers to just tolerate them.

Good.

Burger Kings job is to unlock value and profit for shareholders, not give out freebies to random crackheads off the street
