Wipeout requires a lot more skill to master than Mario Kart. The weapons aren't overpowered and you need to learn the track before you have any hope of winning a race.

I remember when I used to do practice runs in Phantom mode to perfect my turns and maneuvers before I did a real race.

Air brakes are key. If you don't use them, then you ain't even trying bro. Good luck on those 180 degree hairpin turns on Phantom.
