You need to party up in the endgame tho. But you can solo everything, story and all pretty much from the other expansions.

Man, I remember farming for 2 weeks just to get gear I could use for 2 levels. I didn't even get that far when I played the game.

Oh shit mobs are chained!!!

Everyone panics.

People die.

Group disbands.

You die and downlevel.

Gotta go change gear and start all over.

I distinctly remember a massive ram that killed me and a few of the people in my guild (I can't remember what they were called on there) and then killed like 15 more people who came to assist.

Mind you this was like near a decade ago.

I feel like going back I'll miss the awesome community stuff that I really loved.

I remember leveling, I was in the um...one zone directly after the...um...main city. Anyway. We did aight, but then there was a bad pull. And we had to run, the mobs of course deaggro only when zoned and we had to run long. I was in a Japanese group so no one understood English, but the main and and me we had to like switch the mobs between each-other while running and keeping everyone safe while getting heals and stuff.

It was prob one of my favourite moments, even if it was a "bad one".

Yeah. I know. Still, I wanna see the story, I've been told that CoP has prob the best FF story of all time. And I also wanna try the different jobs and such. Also experience the soundtrack in game.

Pretty much this. Tho in WOW there was group quests long ago, but that's all gone pretty much.

FF11 was extreme long ago.

I was in a bad server, the only Europeans that were there were a French and Spanish LS and they didn't speak English. So I could not progress in story mode because I had to do group stuff. And my LS were all Americans :(

I still remember the leader. Siris, she was so great and helpful.

not really unique. that was significantly more common about mmos back before WoW.

You needed a group for things in everquest, you needed a group for most things in Dark Age of Camelot.

Yeah solo to 99 has been possible for a few years now. Various large boosts and bonuses to exp overall, but Trust magic is probably the biggest thing; lets you summon various NPCs from across the game to serve as party members.

I'm not sure about how good endgame is now, though. I've more or less stopped being too interested in grinding all that stuff out. I'll dabble here and there if the opportunity arises, but current stuff (Omen and Ambuscade) feels kinda lame.

My server (Siren) doesn't feel too active, but I've heard that Asura is the liveliest server by far. While it's definitely a shadow of its former self, I still see plenty of people, both solo and party, running around doing things. They're just mostly in the handful of relevant endgame zones (Mhaura/Legion, the three Escha zones, etc.).
