I dont mean just for tickets but they are asking people to help pay for the venue and food and stuff.

They are doing such a bad job of planning my HS reunion that they are thinking of having it in someones backyard.

Did anyone else have to pay in that way? I assumed you pay for like tickets and you have it in the old school gym or something

No, just a cover fee. The alum commitee or whatever were the ones to set everything up.

It's standard to charge the attendees. Why anyone pays money to see a bunch of people they used to occupy a classroom with is beyond me but to each their own.

Do you really need to go make small talk with these people for a hour?

It's nice. At mine I ended up talking with a few people I never really hung out with back in high school. Stop being an anti-social nerd.

they cancelled our 5th anniversary due to lack of interest
I suppose they'll try the 10th

idk if i'll be invited. I dated the class president back in high school and she's apparently in charge of the reunion, she thinks we had a bad breakup

My 10 year reunion is next year. I'm not going. Fuck that. I guess I sound bitter but I don't feel like seeing a bunch if people who made my life hell who have turned into land whales over the years.

I went to mine last year and had to pay for a ticket but that was it. It was $40.

In the era of Facebook, I really don't understand the point of reunions. If you're still interested in people you went to school with then you probably get tons of crap from their feeds. So it's not like you don't know what they're up to. Do you really need to go make small talk with these people for a hour? I mean, these are basically just random people that you got shoved together with for four years. I think I can name five people I went to HS with? And remember like two days total? But I'm old.

I had a very good time at mine. I was pretty damn popular in high school and so being back with everyone in one space really kinda made me feel like I was 17 again, if only for a few hours. Reminiscing, catching up with, and laughing with everybody about things that happened, stuff that you may have forgot had even happened, it was just a cool experience. Facebook can't really replace that.
