I'm glad she lives in a country where she has the freedom and power to defend herself and her children in times of need.

Oh that's so awful! She put all of her kids at risk by doing that.

She should have just let him in and hoped for the best. People say "you never know what criminals are going to do", but studies show that some of the time they just go away once you give them what they want.

Also, last time I checked breaking and entering wasn't a death sentence. What gives her the right to put him to death?

Hope she gave him a warning first. It's the polite way to kill people.

i am curious what the ratio is of times guns were used for home defense compared to times guns led to accidental or intentional injury.

Having a gun in the house significantly increases risk of homicide and suicide. Wonder how it compares to how frequently guns are used for defense

Either way I say live and let live

Accidents happen, but there are so many lives saved by self defense that the freedom to own firearms is more than worth the accidents. Just like the freedom to own and operate a car is worth far more than the accidents and needless deaths on the road. Freedom is sacred.

There was a story just a few days ago about a guy getting a loaded gun from his girlfriends father for a graduation gift and accidentally killing his girlfriend with it. Given the frequency of stories like this it's a safe assumption accidents far outnumber it

well we can't know this from anecdotes alone. I have tried to find statistics on this, but I can't find anything this isn't so excruciatingly biased (both sides) that I find it particularly trustworthy

Going off how the media portrays the frequency of accidents is a terrible way to judge the danger of something, though. You'd want to look at actual death statistics to see how it compares to things like how having a swimming pool increases the risk of drowning.
