I'm trying to get every Japanese Mega Drive game which is almost impossible but I just have Japanese versions of a lot of games such as Sonic, Toejam and Earl, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, Shining Force etc. the cover art and almost every game has a full colored manual with art not found in the Genesis manuals is just amazing to look at.

Games can cost a lot more. I got about 30 games from a local store that had just been traded in and I paid 10 bucks for each, found out later some of these games are worth $150+

yeah i would say that is just firmly in nerd territory. i collected saturn games back in the day and still have a number of the expensive games and i always considered myself a nerd, not a weeb.

but if you have 5 generations you play now and then and 20 games you might play on each system and each system you just have 1 anime based game, you're probably fine.

You should get the Japanese Streets of Rage 3, called Bare Knuckle over there. Which is by far and away the best version of that game.

to simplify, think of it as your annual playing budget. If you play 500 hours of video games a year and spend 50 hours of that playing anime games, thats pretty minor, you can explain that away easy enough. If you spend 350 hours playing anime games, youre a weeaboo.

I'm after the Bare Knuckle games. Only seen the first one locally but I took a closer look and it was a bootleg. I have Streets 2 Genesis version, tho.
