I have this one friend on FB who constantly posts articles and ridiculous opinions based on his right wing viewpoints. It's funny, because all of his black friends comment and argue constantly with him since he's such an outspoken republican.

Conservatism can be expressed in many ways. There is some logic and rationale to their rhetoric. Real world results tend to be lacking (which is why I tend to vote dem) but the antithesis, how are open borders going to help the working poor? How is agricultural regulation and shit like anti-gmo legislation going to help them?
How is making subsistence hunting a legal nightmare going to help them feed their kids?
etc etc, but yes before you start, I know you can name conservative policies that don't help the poor. No reason to turn this into a pissing match, my point is that it's not so black and white.

It's pretty simple. It's a black person that has come to realize the truth; that conservatives aren't racist, and that they simply have different ideas for helping the black community. While their ideas don't sound as nice on paper, when applied to real life they tend to work better than liberal solutions for issues the black community has.

You're one of the good ones then! But you can't deny that the GOP has made oppression of minorities part of its platform. They overwhelmingly support voting laws that target minorities specifically to try and suppress their votes because they know minorities tend to vote democrat. Instead of changing their platform to try and appeal to them they'd rather just suppress their vote.
