The Caps dramatically outplayed the Pens in 5 out of 7 games.

This is 100% Holtby's fault.

I said this EXACT thing after game 1. You HAVE to win the games you dominate, because Pittsburgh is good enough that they will eventually play as well as you a few times and probably win those ones.

Sens can beat the Pens in a 7 game series. We don't play fancy but our style keeps us in pretty much any game. Also Karlsson is the best player on the planet right now. Just need to win four 1 goal games.

Imagine watching this happen for the past 10 years. Caps make the playoffs 9 of 10 times and have yet to make it past the second round. Despite clinching the Presidents Trophy several times (including this year) and having a slew of talent.

I'm always hopeful, but tonight is just what I expected given history (despite our performance in games 5 & 6).

Meanwhile Pittsburgh gets to a fourth finals in the same 10 years, and possibly a third cup.

Yeah, asking a team to dominate a decent opponent six+ out of seven times is a bit too much.

Pens played two games as well as the Caps did, and stole two games where the Caps were significantly better because MAF was great and Holtby was fucking garbage. With even goaltending this is a Caps win in six games.

Same story as last year. Pens get lucky that the Caps goaltending chokes against them. That is the only story here. Anyone who thinks anything else happened is a fucking idiot.

As soon as the Pens got their first goal, the Caps looked to be in a panic of "oh crap, we're gonna lose this". They were making bad passes and overskating pucks and choking on shots near the net. Pens were putting on good pressure, and Caps just looked more deflated as the third went on.
