Ive seen a lot of people split on reloaded, as opposed to Revolutions which was pretty hated by a lot of people. I honestly thought Reloaded was good, but a little full of itself. What do you guys think?

Plot wise? Yes, it's dogshit.
Action and special effects wise? No, it's fucking awesome.

Only the 3rd movie was honestly pure shit.

I hated the action in that one.

I'm gonna be honest, I liked the third film better.

Um, I loved all three movies but the second one had the agent fight which really can't be classified as "fucking awesome" in terms of CGI. Still awesome, sure, but the CGI was really bad, even when it came out, lol.

IMO Reloaded was even worse than Revolutions.

The worst part about Revolutions was the hippy peace loving ending.

I feel like Matrix Reloaded was the movie that popularized the whole over-use of choir in soundtracks that's still going on in movies and video games today.

I don't mind it but I feel like it started there.

Video games soundtracks will never let this go.

I remember the highway scene being cooler than the Smith fight. Also apparently it was like the most expensive scene ever shot up to that point or something like that.

It was expensive because they built a highway to do it.

One of the many things that made the original Matrix such a treat was that it was able to take complex technological and philosophical dialogue and boil it down to something that was much more palatable for the average viewer. It was also much better paced - it knew where to put the exposition, and where to put the gunfights and karate. Reloaded didn't have the benefit of either; the best action sequence is too early, and having the climax be the neverending Architect scene caused damn near everyone to tune out.

It's possible that the Wachowskis wrote themselves into a corner after the first movie - they couldn't find away to recapture the magic of the first movie and explain through dialogue all their awesome concepts without having a character drone on and on and on. I'm guessing though that they got a little full of themselves with the success of the first movie and thought the moviegoing public would eat up every ounce of dialogue and exposition they'd put out; clearly they were wrong.

The rest (The Animatrix included) are watchable, but I personally treat them as non-canon even if that isn't the case.

Reloaded is my favorite one. The Twins were badass and the whole highway chase was amazing. Smith is badass with his "assimilation" power. OG Oracle (RIP to her actress). Visiting Zion for the first time was very cool. Neo fighting on the basketball court was dope.

Suck it haters.

Because the first movie was all this huge deal about how they had to kill Morpheus because the Agents were going to torture the codes to Zion out of him but Neo refused to go along with that and mounted this daring rescue against all odds to save Morpheus' life and then it just later turns out in Reloaded that "lol we're just going to drill a hole lmao"

plan A didn't work and so then went to plan B

i don't see the problem here. plan B is something that takes long and gives time to the humans to do stuff in preparation. plan A was better but failed.

Yeah that's not a worthwhile complaint at all, especially for how much hate the movie gets.

That's a terrible scene. Even at the time, it looked so ridiculously fake as shit that I basically rolled my eyes at most of the movie. The highway scene was much better, as it was much more real.

The best part of the movie was how incredibly hot Monica Belluci was though.

yes it was cgi to hell. would you rather watch a typical hollywood fight scene with dark settings, quick camera cuts, and too close/funny angles where you can never see a damn thing thats happening? the neo fight scene was a lot better than most of the crap fight scenes in movies these days.

I already said, in the part you quoted even, that the highway scene was much better.

Also, lots of people can do decent fight scenes, just not all the people that have been doing that Borune crappy camera work garbage for the last decade or so.

2 and 3 were not as good as 1 for sure but then again 1 is one of the best films ever so they don't necessarily need to be.

2 was a pretty solid film, even if it got a little too caught up in meaningless lore and its own narrative in exchange for the philosophical and religious ideas that made 1 such a masterpiece. Though the scene with the Merohoweveryouspellitian was decently thought-provoking.

3 definitely has the most flaws and basically none of the good stuff of the original, but there are some good things to say about it, like the speech Smith gives about why Neo won't give up, and... uh... I guess that's it.

Never got into The Matrix. I never thought any of them were very good, even the first one (and yeah I watched it at the time of its release, it didn't grab me). Even parodies of The Matrix (of which there are millions) tend to be pretty stupid. Although the one that MTV did during that award show with Will Ferrell was fucking hilarious.
