SNES games were often branded with "Super" as a prefix, and N64, Wii, and Wii U games were often branded with "64," "Wii," and "U" as suffixes, respectively. I can also see the same thing happening to the Switch. But Game Cube skipped that trend.

Heck, if you wanna even throw in handhelds, "Advance," "DS," and "3D" were all suffixes too.

I never got why the official abbreviation was GCN instead of NGC.

...Was this actually a trend? Other than N64, I can't think of more than a few games that actually followed that on the other systems

Yeah, I meant to say beyond N64

It was less prominent on Wii and Wii U but still there.

Advance and DS though were used just as much as 64 (maybe more due to the fact that those two systems had several times the library of N64)

Yeah I agree it mostly died after that. I definitely can't see anything with Switch as a suffix ever happening beyond 1-2 Switch (if that even counts).

Don't forget Cubivore!

Don't see the Switch doing this though, maybe but we'll see. For a few games perhaps.

Eh, I guess I'll give you Advance, granted it was used mostly in remakes/ports (Final Fantasy IV Advance)

DS didn't happen nearly as often when looking at the size of the library, though, and about 80% of it was in Japanese games/titles.

Oooh yeah I didn't even think of this.

Or rather, forgot about it. I knew about it as they were coming out.
