Adding to the fact that I got hit by a car in November and my left side doesn't work too good. So now I'm an unemployed cripple with HIV. I was kinda riding high on how easy everything was, and how awesome everything was, and then it went away all at once. My only reprieve is that I've got a Tuesday-Sunday weekend to look forward to.
It took me by surprise, too. I was doing my every-three-month checkup just because it was three months since the last time I'd been tested. I could remind myself all I wanted that it's not a death sentence (the virus in and of itself isn't that bad as long as you stay away from infections) and that I've got insurance (lol, not no more), but it's getting really tiring.
Learn from me. Condoms aren't enough to prevent transmission. Unless you're cool with possibly contracting it, don't sleep with people who aren't 100% positive they're clean.
This is totally none of your business and I shouldn't even be posting this here. I should be talking to friends I can confide in and I know a couple of you have me on Facebook. But whatever, people aren't generally a******s who would post stuff on my Facebook wall just so they have the satisfaction of knowing my friends and loved ones are unduly scared for me.
Well, I know not to sleep with HIV-positive people
Unless you meant know that I had HIV, in which case I can say that I found the infection really early. The medical director of the testing place said that he'd never seen anyone find out so soon, and my prognosis is good as long as I start getting treated pretty quickly.

why'd you get fired?
Performance, basically. It was really hard to read their code and I think my manager and I were having a hard time communicating what we wanted to each other. They were in the beginning of a big push to refactor their code to be more extensible and maintainable, and that requires either a senior software engineer or someone who's been with the company for a long time. The only other people who'd been there for less than a year are all senior software developers.
Condom should work. You can't suggest skin to skin did it :P If it's not needles, or some really obscure way of blood transmission.. BJ? Blow job is very unlikely for transmission of it. .. but I suppose if you're seeing a Lot of shady people (enough to want to get tested every 3 months O_o) then you're pushing the statistics to the limit..
Eh. Nothing to really say. Unlike above I can't give much best wishes. What is there to wish? For a cheap cure to be mass-produced? A sudden massive amount of money gained from lottery? That's about it. Better find an HIV group if you want to have sex ever again, but I guess that's obvious.

Are you gay? Just wondering because I thought it was hard for straight people to contract.
Both can. It's not that hard for straight to contract. May have been higher infection rate per 1000 in such a group due to more sexually permissive / partner swapping tendencies, but the biology of it doesn't have a whole lot of differences.

HIV/AIDS will be curable in the next decade or so. I wouldn't worry about it brah.
you think so? i've been hearing pessimism in lectures on viral pathology. it has one of the highest rates of mutation, making vaccination extremely difficult (New strains develop many multiples faster than the flu, which we cant cure either for this very reason.). I mean, who knows whats possible with nanotech, sure, but it's hard to cure for a reason. Unless you know something?

Nah, if you're a guy who only has sex with women in the vagina it's pretty hard to contract. The rate of infection in men who don't have sex with men is incredibly low.

I just can't imagine how the virus can succeed so well in an ass and not in a vag if it's using the same carrier... going in. Penetrator receiving infection... still unsure why there would be such a huge difference. Hard to wrap my head around.

anal sex involves tearing and bleeding
vaginal not so much

HIV is primarily transferred by blood. Anal sex produces more tearing, even if it just microtears that you can barely see.

Hmm. I thought it could do mucus membrane to membrane transmission like many STI and not require bleeding. Something to read about.. though not a high priority due to I'm not tapping a million hoes.

I think it has to do with all the blood vessels in the ass, which is also why drugs are so effective up there.
kind of convincing. you can get high by putting things up a vag too.. not as quickly... but you can :P

God bless, that's terrible, but good luck in your life my man. I got tested pretty recently myself, STDs are one of the saddest thing around, it's crazy that they're so prevalent.
Anyways, hope thing turn out okay for ya.

But reading about this makes me worried for the couple of good friends I have who are openly gay. And they sleep around. Given how widespread HIV is today, I really wish modern culture didn't promote promiscuity the way it does. Sigh.

Basically, they replaced his immune system, with that of someone who has a certain type of immunity to HIV, and it worked. He was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer at the same time however, so it is not entirely clear what exactly led to him being cured. Sadly, since the doctor who came up with the solution is not part of the HIV "establishment" this accomplishment was brushed under the rug and written off as "too expensive."

My bracket wasn't good enough to beat SuperNiceDog's in the GameFAQS Rivalry Rumble. Congrats! This is Yesmar.
Oh wait, it was just a stem cell transplant from the other person's immune system. So, I'm not sure what exactly that consists of, but not as crazy as replacing the entire system.

Yeah, HIV is a very well engineered virus. It will be hard to "find" the cure.

yes. also, that's the issue with AIDs killing meds, is that they only kill what is in the bloodstream. The virus hides out in the bone marrow (and probably more but im rusty), so it will come back if meds are ever stopped. another reason it's so difficult. You can't exactly replace all the marrow in a person's body. . . .

I'm pretty sure bone marrow transplants exist, but that's beside the point.
Hope things work out for you in one way or another.
