earlier there was a screenshot of a gamestop listing because they were putting their Wii U games under the Saturn. this led to some speculation of the Wii U having a Saturn emulator.

so now i'm slightly depressed by bad screenshots dashing my hopes.
(at least my PC is fine..!)

now now, nintendo's making strides in online. some is catch up, some is new stuff to consoles, but they still haven't figured out how many people want to be able to just have a single store with it all yet. or the tech for it. i'm honestly not sure what the hold up there is.

at least by the time the wii u competition launches maybe they'll be there too!

It's confirmed you can't since they're already selling Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Punch-Out!!, and Donkey Kong Jr. separately on both systems.

If the VC transfers produce shoddy images, I'll just continue playing the VC games I own on my Trinitron/Wii combo instead of moving them over to my Samsung or Acer/Wii U.

well you can't upscale most of the games Nintendo could sell on those services anyway. N64, Gamecube and Wii for sure. but you can't upscale the stuff that came out for NES/SNES/Genesis/TG-16/arcade, and they probably can't get games that released on most of the other successful 3D consoles.

well so far how they've done it is write platform-specific game-specific emulators and hack them up to run a single game. so with each new console release they have to write a new emulator, and with each new game re-release they have to apply game specific hacks until it works kind of sort of properly. that's most likely the hold up.

nintendo continuing to master the craft of selling the same game to the same people as many times as possible, at least they continue making great new games like nintendoland too

wasn't the whole ambassador thing basically a giant apology for charging like a hundred dollars more than the 3DS was actually worth

Yeah but the thing is they announced the Ambassador thing before the price drop took effect so what you did was buy the 3DS right before the price drop and then get a price-match refund, so you got the low price AND the free games. I know several people who did this.

whoa guys, upscaling isn't the same thing as running the game at a higher resolution.

the ps3 upscales ps1 games, and it isn't that great at all. I want them to be run natively at higher resolutions.

also, given that the ambassador program was essentially $100 of free games (assuming $5 each), there is at least some small precedent for something similar happening if they ever decide to merge the 3ds and wii u services. possibly they could just refund you points for any vc games you bought on both systems. I mean, really, the only people who are going to double buy anyway are supernerds like me and shine. I can't see them losing much money at all on it.

also, I hope they use the 3ds system with replayable save files, because I want to finally beat the ninja gaiden series!

I've played through Mario 64 on both N64 and VC and the difference never really caught me. Then again, I know a major YouTube LPer who prefers playing N64 games on VC since he doesn't like the N64's controller, and as a result, his LP of SM64 was also on VC.

That would be because Virtual Console DOESN'T run games at a higher resolution than the N64, as has been said many times before in this topic.
