I think the big problem with the bleach anime, is that because nearly nothing happens in the manga when there are battles (seriously, like multiple full-page panels for a single attack sometimes) that the anime kept catching up and had to do terrible filler arcs.
I imagine, as the manga is on its last arc, what they'll do is make a few OVAs or something to cover the end.
