(To clarify, I am not the one you responded to, but I always found Idi amin and his insanity to be horrifying, and what he did isn't nearly as well known as it should be imo). Oh he is quite well known in the West, with the film Last King of Scotland, among others. What's lesser known is Mobotu Sese Seku of Zaire, who's more known in the West for hosting the Rumble in the Jungle than his actual abuses, and he ruled the country until 1997.
