at this point putin has basically just signaled that he will stay entrenched in ukraine to save face. he has basically no chance of actually toppling the ukrainian government and is just throwing tens of thousands of russian lives away to maintain his poorly crafted and crumbling facade.

the west has to keep sending aid to ukraine. russia continuing to fail and languish is not only a moral and ideological victory, it is a strategic coup that gives us more influence in eastern europe than the west has ever had. helping ukraine is the right thing to do but it is also the strategically sound answer as well. we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by continuing to help ukraine defend its sovereignty

Isn't the US still maintaining the war in Ukraine to save face as well? I mean the US has already said that it shut down the Istanbul peace deal and maintains the war in Ukraine in order to look tough to China because of long term strategic concerns over Taiwan. So I disagree about the US having nothing to lose.

But I agree with everything else you said. The US exploited divisions in Ukraine to start a civil war with the purpose of luring Russia to intervene in the conflict and keeping them bogged down in a costly unwinnable war that would drain their resources and pressure the Russian economy and cause tensions for the Russian regime. The plan is working perfectly so far. The ultimate goal is the collapse of the Russian state. Similar to the way Afghanistan was used to collapse the Soviet Union.
