Is Duolingo fun/effective? Was thinking about using it to learn languages also. I'm doing well with it so far. I'm obviously pretty early on, so I'll have to see how well I progress over the next year or so. I have a friend who has been doing Duolingo for a couple years now and he says he can understand how to read and write pretty well in Japanese and can hold conversations.
