Also it's really not hard to check a gun. Drop the mag. Button is almost always near the top of the grip if not always (on a hand gun at least) then pull the slide back and see the chamber is clear.

Revolver is even easier just hit the button that drops the cylinder to the side and you can see if there is bullets in it.

I wouldn't expect a actor to learn complicated things for a role but this stuff is easy.

That said I'm unsure if I feel Baldwin deserves prison. Clearly actors haven't been taught these things but it should most definitely set a precedent that actors must recieve gun safety training to use a prop gun on set. Maybe make Baldwin pay for these trainers to be utilized for a good while as a punishment.

From what I read, it depends, if they dont care too much, cgi in post with nothing in the gun and not even a real working gun, if they do care, blanks but usually there is either something between the actor firing, or the actor fires with no one there and then edited to show for safety. Blanks can be dangerous.
