Is this policy left to the users to enforce by marking, or is this something mods are asked to tackle on their own?

Can our local mods N/A the lgbtq discussions, but take down the MAGA/Biden stuff?
The way our moderation system has always worked it's basically always enforced by users marking stuff. (Which is why this policy change doesn't really make sense - if the issue is that things have gotten super toxic... well, that was already probably against the rules. The problem then was that no one was marking it or that the mods weren't modding it. This doesn't really fundamentally change any of that. It's just stating those posts are now breaking n+1 rules... but if no one is marking them then it's not going to change much. Mods don't really roam topics looking to action things, the site is just too big for that to be feasible.)

And technically since all marked messages go into a single site-wide queue the mods that happen to be B8ers couldn't realistically intercept all marks that happen here. A common misconception is that mods have assigned boards/mods that post on a board are the ones who are modding it. Someone like TRE could handle messages here but only in the sense that any mod who happens to open the mod queue has a chance of getting a message from here. It's more likely that mods who don't frequent B8 are handling our messages I would imagine simply as a matter of probability (I dunno how many mods there are in total but far more than the handful who post here I wager.)
