it's referencing the new show. there's a plot point with the main character who is a vault dweller that messing around with your cousin is fine for awhile but that to maintain a viable inter-vault breeding stock longterm, you can't marry or procreate with your cousin.

Haven't watched it yet, waiting to binge it with a friend over the weekend. So I guess that one flew straight over my head.

I've made attractive characters plenty in bethesda games. Typically harder to do with a male character or certain races in elder scrolls but I did manage to make a female orc that I thought was good enough looking.

Sure, I've made some decent looking characters in vanilla myself. But it's not exactly an easy thing to do. Take a look at Skyrim, people go gaga over Aella the Huntress and she's as plain as they come.
It's not so much them not being attractive as Bethesda's models overall being blocky.
