Honestly, I think this is one of the cases where it's not an issues thing. The pursuit and mentality of strength and masculinity is one of the main themes of the series, and the author takes it to the extreme logical conclusion. This is how there's no known homosexuality in Baki, but there is nigh constant homoeroticism. Baki even got a special chapter that plays out like a shojo crush, but because he wants to fight a guy, not fuck him. Although fucking and fighting are some pretty blurred lines here.

Also there's a Netflix series about an insane fujo fangirl and how her obsession with the series, and wanting to prove that it is BL, shapes her life. It is based on a true story.
