^Did Durkheim do any studies as a sociologist to support that hypothesis or did he just assert it?The only outright study of his I can find is his suicide one, but I could very well be wrong. His sociology/deviance stuff is predominately theory, but sociology (or at the least deviance sociology) as a science is largely derived from that work.
