Pacing can be subjective and mean a lot of things. For example you can be in an engaging part of the game and then BOOM insert puzzle break and some may think that's a deal breaker. yeah but that game could be, like, the original Resident Evil or something and that person makes that complaint and it's like "dude...you know what you are playing, right?" But it's not just games, I hear it all the time for movies, TV shows, and for some reason especially anime.
