Truly.

I didn't realize how easy i had it at my school. I only taught 12th grade (so 3 sections of English 4 a semester; usually 1 standard, 1 inclusion, 1 honors).

What's crazy is that after I calculated my salary at this job ($57,000) compared to my teaching job ($47,000), I still had basically the same amount of money because the insurance from this private company was so expensive.

Out of curiosity, what caused you to leave in the first place? I have a good friend who is a high school teacher and he's continually astonished by how frequently his coworkers complain about their job. He had a prior career before that, so he has a much better sense of what the rest of the working world is like so it bugs him.

Was your prior job really that miserable? Or did you have a bunch of miserable people around you making you think that it was worse than it was?
