The absence of fighting does not always mean peace, it can mean the most terrible oppression is taking place. Everyone "getting along" can mean the people with an issue with the way things are are not around anymore or have absolutely no political power. You know what that reminds me of? The Antebellum South. That's always characterized by confederates and their defenders as a time of peace and friendship. That's the type of "peace and friendship" conservatives always seem to want.
