wasn't aware there were people here that followed sumo

I'm going to post my hot take: every Mongolian that has made Ozeki has also achieved Yokozuna rank, but I believe both Hoshoryu and Kirishima will be the first to not make it there

In sports, many that are regarded among the greatest all have something in common; the "it" factor, they just have "it" and it's something that's hard to explain but when you see a talented/generational type of athlete, you just know. This is no different from those that have become Yokozuna

While Hoshoryu and Kirishima are great, and will likely be solid Ozeki, I just don't see it in them to make that next step. But I would love to be proven wrong since Hoshoryu is one of my favorites

Yeah the Mongolians have had a great streak with that.

Kirishima may not but has potential to get there. Hoshoryu I think will get there given current state of affairs. He's one of the strongest left beside terunofuji. Kotonowaka is the other one I see as a bit stronger than him but doesn't have as much diversity and skill with technique that might get to yokozuna beside Mongolians. The two newbies takerufugi and onosato may get there but it will be some time before they could over take these two.
