Topic	The size of some games has become absurd.

Like you hear about compression and makes me wonder what even is it that makes data becomes hundreds of gb Textures. Most have 3-4 main channels, (RGB and sometimes A) frequently with a second texture for normal mapping, which would be three more. Frequently with more textures for (eg) wet/dry, damaged, etc. Meanwhile, 4k resolution is 4x as big as 1080p, 9x as big as 720p, 18x as big as 360p, etc. And there's also the thing where everything has like a bajillion skins today. <cite>RetuenOfDevsman posted [p:979536033] in The size o...
