Humans are essentially animals, no? What separates us from any other animal is we tend to learn and obtain knowledge. There's 2 different kinds of reproduction strategies that are immutable and baked into biology. The first is to have a shit load of babies under the assumption that most of them will die but a few will survive and it'll be enough to keep the species going, the second is to have only a small amount of babies and then spend a lot of energy protecting them. Sea turtles (average 110 eggs per clutch) are the former, humans are the latter, average 2.5 kids over entire lifetime.
