It is partly a hindsight thing though. Back after Prime's release I remember the big argument was "is it an FPS, an action/adventure game, or a first-person platformer?" The term Metroidvania wasn't super widespread then and as a result wasn't even involved in the conversation. --- "You're childish. What are you getting? Are you getting strawberry? Ha!
