Which of course brings me to the other option of Lpen being scum, but even then Mzero's action does not guarantee Lopens survival, so I also am inclined to give Mzero a townpass regardless.

I don't see the connection there. People were voting Lopen because Chris was hyping up his lynch. MZero had nothing to do with that. He simply stopped Lopen from voting other people, but you, me, and everyone else on the player list can freely vote Lopen.

I mean, we're both coming to the same conclusion that MZero is likely town. But I think the only benefit a scum MZero gets from revealing one of his role powers is earning early trust from town. Otherwise, scum MZero would have bought into the theory that Lopen gain power upon voting everybody.

Like, scum really has no reason to reveal that they can freeze votes this early into the game. Hiding information from the town is almost always the better play for scum. So why reveal this hidden ace so soon?

That kind of impulse-motivated action is what makes me think MZero is acting on his own as a townie, rather than working in cahoots with other scum.
