I've never read it but read OF it. A virus infects people and turns them into amoral sadistic psychopaths. They do all kinds of depraved things to the uninfected. There was an Asian movie inspired by it. Thai I think maybe. Its on Shudder I think. I watched it a few months ago. Same idea. Infected turn into psychopaths.
