My wife has never registered to vote and probably never will. She gets really flustered by politics and doesn't like talking them at all. She mostly leans right but that's heavily weighted by her pro life views which is pretty much the only thing that she is kind of sort of willing to discuss.

She's more liberal than she thinks she is and it creates a pretty complex (and sometimes inconsistent) set of stances for her, and I think she would have a very hard time finding someone to vote for that lines up with her real values.
